The City of Pleasanton is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Specialist to join our Environmental Services Division, with a primary focus on environmental compliance. In this role, the Specialist will lead efforts under the City’s Sewer Pipe Blockage Program (previously known as the FOG Program) by conducting facility inspections, collecting samples, preparing reports, educating food service establishments on best management practices, and enforcing municipal code requirements. The position also offers the opportunity to cross-train in other key areas such as stormwater compliance, hazardous materials management, and spill response, providing a well-rounded foundation in environmental services. This is a unique chance to help rebuild a critical environmental program while working as part of a small, supportive, and mission-driven team committed to protecting public health, the environment, and City infrastructure. Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential duties of the job. A typical way to accomplish this includes:A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in physical science, engineering, environmental science, biology, or a related field, or an Associate of Arts degree plus five years of work experience in a position and field with direct relevance to duties described herein. Public sector experience and certification and/or training in landscape irrigation auditing, storm water inspections, FOG inspections, and/or water-efficient landscaping practices are highly desirable.License and Certifications:
