WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR IN TRAINING-INTERNSHIP (OIT)

Carmel Area Wastewater District is seeking a motivated candidate who is interested in building a career in wastewater operations through our 24-month Operator-in-Training (OIT) program.

Gain the skills, experience, and certification needed to become a Grade I Wastewater Operator.

What you will learn as an OIT:

• Learn and perform essential plant operations
• Monitor and maintain equipment
• Collect samples and perform lab tests
• Ensure regulatory compliance
• Protect the environment and public health

Timeline:

Within 6 Months - Completion of six educational points to qualify for the Wastewater Operator in Training Grade I Certificate

Within 9 Months - Obtain Operator in Training Grade I Certificate

Within 24 Months - Pass the Wastewater Operator Grade I Exam

24-Month Salary Progression

Step A - $32.20/hr - Hire

Step B - $33.81/hr - After 6 months

Step C - $35.50/hr - After 12 months

Step D - $37.28/hr - After 18 months

This 24-month training internship is designed to provide practical experience and professional development with the ultimate goal of obtaining an Operator Grade I Certificate. Completion of the program does not guarantee permanent employment.
