Jacobs is seeking a Water Mechanic II for a large water treatment facility based in San Marcos CA. This position performs the inspection, maintenance, modification, and repair of the plant’s systems, facilities, structures and related equipment, including a wide variety of pumps, instruments, motors, compressors, valves, blowers, and chemical feed equipment.
The facility we operate is a T5 rated100-mgd potable water treatment plant using combined submerged membrane filtration, ozone disinfection, advanced oxidation, and biological activated carbon to meet strict water quality standards for the San Diego metropolitan area. At its completion in April 2008, it was, and continues to be, one of the largest water treatment plants using membrane filtration in the world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs skilled work in the construction, installation, repair and maintenance of the treatment plant’s systems, facilities, structures and related equipment, including a wide variety of pumps, chemical feed/storage systems, motors, compressors, valves, and rotating equipment.
• Under direction, schedules, and carries out a preventive maintenance program; performs inspections of structures, machinery, and equipment; makes recommendations regarding changes in maintenance work procedures.
• Inspects, maintains and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Requests necessary tools, equipment and supplies to perform required maintenance work.
• Plans and lays out jobs from blueprints, drawings, sketches or verbal instructions; maintains records in the form of blueprints, plans and specifications for plant equipment and machinery.
• Creates work orders to perform daily tasks using MAXIMO CMMS software package and track work performed and inventory used on a per job basis.
• Participate in the plant’s Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) program.
• Exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative relationship with those contacted during the course of work.
• Responds to emergency situations as necessary, including those occurring after normal working hours.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Here's what you'll need
• Valid California Driver’s License
• High School Diploma or GED
• Two years of journey-level experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing of mechan¬¬ical systems, equipment and devices common to a large waterworks facility.
• Knowledge of:
o Practices, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery common to a water/wastewater treatment plant or related facility.
o Machine shop procedures and practices.
o Safety practices, safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work.
o Typical waterworks conversions and calculations.
o Relevant state and federal regulations.
o Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
o Codes, ordinances and regulations pertaining to the work.
o Operation of motorized vehicles and equipment related to maintenance activities.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• Experience using oxyacetylene and/or electric arc welding equipment and materials.
• Ability to design and fabricate a variety of brackets, supports and other metal structures, using torches, welding equipment and other fabrication equipment.
• Experience using MAXIMO CMMS.
• CWEA Mechanical Technologists Certification and/or CA SWRCB DDW T2 or D2 certification.
