General Manager with Grade III California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Live and work in California's scenic Eastern Sierra. Hilton Creek Community Services District serves 500 customers of Crowley Lake, is located approximately fifteen miles south of the town of Mammoth Lakes, Ski Resorts and near the eastern entrance to Yosemite.

Job Description: General Manage Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

  • Direct overall plant operations, regulatory compliance and administrative strategy
  • Direct and supervise operations, technical and administrative personnel
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, budgets and schedules
  • Development and oversight of contracts, requests for proposals and public utility projects
  • Planning, constructions, project management and maintenance of the plant
  • Supervise purchasing and utilization of supplies and equipment maintenance
  • Complete workday daily plant operation tasks from procedure handbook (partial list: reading and interpreting monitoring equipment, rake bar screen, hosing inlet channel, foam in aeration tanks, and secondary clarifiers, skim tanks, checking aeration blowers and chain drive skimmer)
  • Maintain pumping station daily
  • Systematically inspects manholes and maintains sewer lines
  • Complete routine equipment inspections, make repairs or arranges with outside contractors to make repairs
  • Maintain logs, writes and submits reports for all regulatory agencies
  • Conduct testing as required by regulatory agencies, meets safety and work procedure requirements
  • Respond to on-call and emergency situations and/or arranges for a stand-by employee to respond
  • Recruit and supervise unlicensed employees and outside contractors
  • Clean and maintain District property, vehicle and buildings or make arrangements for that maintenance
  • Engage with and responds to district customers
  • Routinely inspect Juniper Loop, solve road maintenance problems, help and oversee snow plowing
  • Attend board meetings, present monthly reports of District status, participate in budgeting and long-range planning
  • Assist District Secretary with District organizational tasks.
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Current California Grade III Wastewater Operator Certificate
  • California Commercial Class B Driver's License, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hiring
  • Ability to operate a full range of equipment commonly found in wastewater treatment plants, computers and common power tools
  • Physical abilities to perform the work including sufficient strength to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work safely in accordance with safety precautions, rules, regulations, and practices
  • Current California Grade III Wastewater Operator Certificate
  • California Commercial Class B Driver's License, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hiring
  • Ability to operate a full range of equipment commonly found in wastewater treatment plants, computers and common power tools
  • Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Physical abilities to perform the work including sufficient strength to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work safely in accordance with safety precautions, rules, regulations, and practices
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter
