The Alameda County Water District located in Fremont, California, is seeking an experienced engineering professional with strong technical and leadership skills to serve as an Engineering Supervisor in the Project Engineering Division of the Engineering and Technology Department. Reporting directly to the Project Engineering Division Manager, the Engineering Supervisor provides leadership and plans, organizes, directs, and assists in the development and implementation of the District's Capital Improvement Program.
The Engineering Supervisor oversees civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers who plan and execute major capital projects including upgrades to potable water treatment facilities, booster stations, pipelines, tanks, reservoirs, and supervisory control and data acquisition systems. The Engineering Supervisor provides direction, supervision and support to engineers and technical staff who perform the following: planning, engineering analysis and design of potable water production and distribution facilities; selection and management of consultants, including technical review of work product; preparation of construction bid documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates; environmental review and permitting; construction management; budget forecasting; engineering analysis in support of operations and maintenance groups; grant funding acquisition and administration; collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; and, other related work as required.
Ideal Qualifications
•Ability to supervise, mentor, and lead civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers in the execution of capital projects
•Knowledge of potable water infrastructure design engineering
•Knowledge of public agency construction contract development and low-bid, public works construction management
•Ability to collaboratively build consensus among internal stakeholders and external regulators and jurisdictional authorities

Education and Experience:
Possession of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, or a related field; and six (6) years of progressively responsible practical engineering experience, which includes two (2) years’ experience to that of an Associate Engineer or Senior Engineer within the District, and includes one (1) year of lead experience directing the work of others involved in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic design, water supply planning, distribution system planning, water quality and environmental compliance programs, economic engineering investigations, or engineering project management.
An advanced degree in an accredited engineering curriculum may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Completion of the District’s Leadership Skills Training program may be substituted for the one (1) year of the required lead experience. Supervisory experience desired.
If not previously completed, completion of the District’s Leadership Skills Training Program is required following hire.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess California State Registration as a Professional Engineer.
