Dublin San Ramon Services District, a water, wastewater and recycled water Special District, is recruiting for a Laboratory Supervisor. The District is seeking to hire an exceptional candidate for this position.
The Laboratory Supervisor plans, organizes, and provides direction and oversight of comprehensive Analytical Laboratory and Environmental Compliance Programs that perform testing, sampling, and environmental analysis of water, wastewater, recycled water, and industrial wastes; plans, organizes, and provides direction and oversight of pretreatment functions under the District's Environmental Compliance Program; provides general supervision to assigned staff; provides leadership for a variety of technical tasks relative to conducting and interpreting emerging laboratory regulations and upcoming lab certification changes and standard and complex laboratory analyses; updates laboratory methods and determines test/analysis procedures; develops and implements the quality assurance program of the laboratory; develops and maintains the laboratory's Safety and Chemical Hygiene Plans; oversees divisional reporting and serves as the primary contact for regulatory agencies regarding laboratory services; provides support for administering the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Program for the District and the Drinking Water Distribution Programs; ensures the division meets all applicable laws, regulations, and District policies; provides professional assistance to District management staff in areas of expertise; fosters cooperative team-building working relationships with staff and intergovernmental and regulatory agencies; and performs other duties as assigned. CWEA or AWWA certification is strongly desired as well as proficiency in emerging contaminants such as nutrients, PFAS/PFOA, and COVID monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible work experience in wastewater and industrial laboratory testing, analysis, and control, including two (2) years in a lead position or supervisory capacity.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Possession of a Laboratory Analyst/ Water Quality Analyst Level III certificate from the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) or California-Nevada Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) within six (6) months of employment.
  • Laboratory Analyst Level IV certificate within two (2) years of employment.
